NETWORKING TIP

Since truly effective networking is about quality, not quantity,
when you find yourself at an event with hundreds of people,
plan to have a substantial conversation with just three or
four people. Begin to build a relationship with them and
identify at least one way you can help them. Offer them a
referral or suggestion that you can use later as a reason to
follow-up. And Follow-up!

NEWS ON THE STREET

The new Austin Business District Magazine hits the streets
next week!

Until now, few publications served local business.
Advertisers were limited to expensive options with
a short shelf life or periodicals serving on the periphery.
Welcome to a new paradigm.

Jason Myers, ABD’s publisher said, “Our mission is to
analyze and present news and information that connects
people, companies and industries, and to confront all
levels of issues that affect area businesses positively
and negatively.

WHAT'S SO FUNNY?

True story: The scene is a conference of professors of marketing.
The keynote speaker is an eminent economist.

The chairman, who sees himself as a bit of a wag, says,
"I would like to introduce my eminent colleague and friend.
He's an economist, one of those people who turn random
numbers into mathematical laws."

The economist, not to be outdone, replies, "My friend, here,
is a marketer. They reverse the process."

Happy networking!
