Workers Comp Insurance | Annual Audits

posted on May 26, 2010

Most businesses and companies are requiring workers comp insurance of vendors, contractors and sub-contractors.  Most businesses and companies want to make sure vendors, contractors and subs are insured with General Liability insurance, Product Liability insurance and Workers Comp insurance across Texas.

Insurance carriers like to perform audits either quarterly or annually to make sure certain parameters for insuring a risk are met or that a business and it's services and deliverables are alinged with the insurance carrier's premiums.  Business owners need to make sure that workers comp insurance is an area that is discussed, documented and written correctly and thoroughly.  It might take more time to get it right, but it's not as expensive as it could be the next year.

Many times businesses are eager to get insurance coverage and as a result of a quick paced society, they forget to be as thorough or forget to mention additional job descriptions being performed.  As an insurance agent, I make sure the workers comp consultation is as thorough as possible from the start.  Mistakes can often lead to higher insurance premiums resulting from annual audits or quarterly audits if your a new business.

Don't make a costly mistake and get it done right the first time around.  For more questions on workers compensation insurance contact S. Todd Harris @ sharris1@farmersagent.com
