What Principles Guide Your Business?
posted on August 9, 2010
If you are a sports fan then you probably know that there were 7 incredible men inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame this weekend. Each had moving speeches but the one that has caught the attention by most was made by Emmitt Smith...NFL's all time Rusher. The success he had with the Dallas Cowboys will likely never be seen again.
You can watch and experience his speech online, but I want to direct you to this particular part...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiqLZ-prLqk&feature=related. This is Part Four of his speech. Go to 4:47 and listen to Emmitt's Principles of his life. You don't have to be a Dallas Cowboy Fan, like Emmitt Smith or even know what shape a football is to relate to these principles.
Emmitt Smith's Critical Life Principles:
#1 - Be of Service
#2 - We all need a Championship Strategy to Guide Us to Help Make those Dreams come True
#3 - Claim Your Inner Champion - NEVER let others define you...You define yourself
#4 - Consistency - Consistency Shows Value - Consistency is necessary for Trust, Durability and Longevity...You have to show up EVERY week no matter how difficult the game or life might be...over time consistency will allow you to acheive your Goals.
Action Steps Critical to Sustaining Emmitt's Vision:
# 1 - There is a difference between fulfilling a Dream and merely having a Vision - Most people only ever dream
#2 - Write down your goals and HOW you are going to achieve them - It is only a Dream until you write it down and then it becomes a Goal.
BE x DO = HAVE
Let's look at this formula from Right to Left...
HAVE - What are your goals? What is it that you want to HAVE in your life? Are you just a dreamer or are you on the journey to fulfill your Vision?
DO - What are your Action Steps to Sustaining Your Vision?
BE - Who do you have to BE? What changes and improvements MUST be made in YOU?
Who do you have to BE - to DO the things you need to - in order to HAVE what you want to have?
