Know your Auto Insurance

posted on August 30, 2010

Auto insurance is one of those things I hate paying for each month, but know that if I were ever in a bad accident I would be grateful I had the right coverage.

Most people do not know what their auto insurance covers.  What I mean is that most drivers know whether they have liability only or full coverage.  However, does it cover roadside assistance, will it replace your lost wages if you were out of work for a week or two after an accident, does it pay a death claim if the accident were fatal, will it cover the cost of a rental car, will it cover you if you are hit by an uninsured motorist.

Buying insurance from an online website or 800 number can be great, especially when it comes to price, but more times than not, the driver is not properly protected, simply because the driver was not informed on their options.

Do not buy state minimum insurance because in the event of a minor to severe accident it will not be enough.  I can guarantee if you hit a mini van with 3 kids and 2 adults, and one of them is severely injured, you will not have enough coverage and will have to pay out of pocket.

The amount of coverage you need depends on your situation, so please get an insurance review.  If you don't know where to start, please let me know and I can help.
