Creative employee engagement: be prepared

It's established that creativity is a part of engagement.Broken pencil

And it's established that being engaged generates being creative.

I offer an easy-to-use activity to open the creative flow and generate employee engagement. Recognize, please, that as your team applies the activity, they are engaging. Certainly, the results of the activity--performance improvements--are party to engagement also.

  • Select an upcoming task or project the team is about to take on.
  • Quickly—in brainstorm mode—the team lists  failure possibilities. Think specific failure parts, not just the whole assignment failing.
  • Allow 10-15 minute of failure brainstorming. Then one member s l o w l y reads the list of failure possibilities.
  • As the list is read, others notice how thinking of failures triggers your problem-solving and problem-preventing ideas.

How many ways can you apply this activity or your similar version? Where's your idea notebook?
