About

I am an RN starting an independent practice in Austin with the mission of reducing medication errors, improving communication between doctors and patients, and empowering individuals to make educated choices as they work to achieve optimum health and well-being. I have been a Registered Nurse since 2000 and have three years additional EMT-Paramedic experience prior to that. I have worked various emergency departments in the Austin area, the most recent of which was four years at the University Medical Center at Brackenridge, a level I trauma center. I also have experience in intensive care and home health nursing.

Passions

1) Friends and family. They anchor me and make my life worth living. 2) Music has been a lifelong passion. I love listening to it, playing it, recording it, distorting it, and yes, torturing my neighbors with the stereo blasting at 4:00 AM. (I am kidding, y'all. I do blast at 4 AM but I don't have any neighbors to speak of.) I was originally trained as a classical violist and graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in 1985. I played professionally with the Baton Rouge Symphony and also worked as one of the music directors for KLSU radio--a big deal at that time—promoting alternative music before the phrase "alternative music" actually existed. Exit stage right… Long story. I now content myself with playing fiddle, viola, and guitar, though I am still struggling with keys and chords—CURSE that classical training—and live music of any shape or form. 3) Food, wine, cooking, and gardening. Need I say more? 4) Being out of doors. My dream home would be a screened porch with an awesome bathroom attached. 5) Fire. Quite frankly, I am a pyro. ‘Nuff said.
